Nottingham in all modes

Nottingham in all modes

Buzzing with the energy of over 60,000 students, and home to a hugely diverse population, Nottingham is a city that leaves a lasting impression. The famous outlaw Robin Hood is still very much a part of the story, but many aspects of Nottingham’s present are equally as legendary – from great nightlife to stunning green spaces, award-winning transport to outstanding world food.

With two universities and one of the youngest populations in the UK, would you really expect Nottingham to have anything over than epic nightlife? Start at Hockley, dubbed the city’s Soho.

  • City of legends

You can’t stay in Nottingham and not visit some kind of Robin Hood landmark. But there’s plenty more history to explore too – from the 11th Century castle to the Lace Market.

  • Natural beauty

Nottingham isn’t all buildings and bars. Wollaton Hall, with its stunning gardens, lake and deer park, is right in the city centre. While Sherwood Forest and the Peak District are a short trip away.

There’s a lot more to Nottingham than meets the eye. City of Caves is a fascinating network of over 500 sandstone caves beneath the streets, dating back to the dark ages.

A balanced stay in Nottingham

From A, to be

Nottingham’s transport system is second-to-none, with the awards to prove it. The bus network is the largest in England, and the excellent tram system covers the city centre and Park & Ride car parks. If you’re travelling further afield, there are direct train lines to all major cities in the UK – including London King’s Cross, which is less than two hours away – with East Midlands Airport nearby too.

Eating out & eating in

Stay in Nottingham and you can eat and drink your way around the world. The city has over 300 cafes, bars and restaurants – from family-friendly favourites to fine dining – with new openings popping up all the time. Want to tick off a tourist hotspot? Start your evening with a drink at Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem,  England’s oldest inn. Or whip something up in your kitchen and enjoy some home-made comfort food.

Work hard, rest harder

In town for work? Many businesses have their HQs in Nottingham, including E.ON UK, Siemens, Boots and Sports Direct. The city is also home to many up-and-coming creative companies, with plenty of co-working spaces to meet and mingle at. If you’re working from home, your self-contained serviced apartment has everything you need for a productive day. Or comfy sofas for a less productive one.
